Physical Properties and What They Mean to You

A half day seminar (3.5 hours)
3.5 CEU credits

The objective of this seminar is to first: quantify the physical properties that we should try and attain for each of our greens depending on their micro-climate & type of turf.  Second:  Topdressing & watering programs that will allow us to make maximum use of the physical properties presently in each of the greens.

Outline
  • Soil Properties
  • Solids & Pores
  • Turf Types
  • Micro-Climates
  • Water & Irrigation
  • Topdressing
  • Sand Shapes

The Sealing of Our Greens and What We Can Do About It

3.5 CEU credits

The  objective of this seminar is to reintroduce basic soil physics, and to discuss in detail organic matter, binding agents, gasses, irrigation, air movement, moisture barriers, drain tiles, and aerifying displacement amounts in relationship to tine size and spacing.

Outline
  • Soil Physics of Sand
  • Solids & Pores
  • Organic Matter
  • Air Movement
  • Gases
  • Aerifying/Displacement
  • Binding Agents

A third seminar consisting of from 1 hour to 2.5 hours in length is also available.  This third seminar is composed of portions taken from the two GCSAA approved seminars and is customized to fit the needs of the group of attendees.

The objective of each of the seminars is to introduce or reintroduce basic soil physics, and to discuss in detail organic matter, binding agents, gases, irrigation, air movement,  moisture barriers, tree roots, drain tiles, and aerifying displacement amounts in relationship to tine size and spacing.
